DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Pride and support the arts at a unique\, hands-on fused glass fundraiser for the Cider Mill Stage this June! Hosted right on the iconic stage itself\, this creative event invites participants to design and make their own fused glass project while raising vital funds for our beloved local theater. You’ll have the choice to create a vibrant suncatcher\, a rainbow-inspired wind chime (made extra durable with two stacked layers of glass)\, or a tabletop rainbow arch. While rainbow themes are welcome\, you’re free to design your piece however you’d like—this event is all about expression\, celebration\, and community. Guests will learn how to cut and shape glass\, adhere pieces using various techniques\, and decorate their art using handmade glass stringers\, marbles\, powders\, lace\, and more. Once your masterpiece is complete\, it will be kiln-fired at our studio and ready for pickup in about two weeks—or we can ship it to you if needed. There will be food and drinks available during the event\, including wine\, champagne\, beer\, and a selection of snacks to enjoy while you create. This event is open to all ages\, kid-friendly\, and perfect for beginners—no experience is necessary. All proceeds go directly to supporting the Cider Mill Stage and its mission to bring high-quality performing arts to our community. Tickets are non-refundable\, but if you can’t attend\, you’re welcome to transfer your credit to another class or complete your project at our studio at a later date.

DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Pride month with Poppy & Danny! \nPoppy Champlin is one of the quickest-witted comedians working either coast today. Besides Poppy’s deep comedic chops\, she has a good voice that she uses during each performance. She erupts onto the stage\, fearless\, upbeat\, and energetic spitting out jokes\, quips\, songs\, impressions and birdcalls. Poppy’s’ shows can be described as spin art – “No two alike.” \nA graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a BFA in Theatre\, she went to the Famed Chicago Second City Training Center and from there Tinsel Town. Once in LA\, Poppy continued to perform stand-up as well as study acting at the Larry Moss studios “Poppy was a freakin’ ball of comedic thunder\,” says one fan “The best comedian I have seen since Whoopi Goldberg\,” says another. Her stand-up pedigree is extensive: from winning America’s Funniest Real Woman on The Joan Rivers Show to being featured on Entertainment Tonight. Her television appearances include Showtime\, LOGO\, Comics Unleashed\, Comedy Central\, VH-1\, HBO and Oprah. Poppy has opened for such comics as Ray Ramano\, Denis Leary\, Bill Maher\, Bill Hicks\, and Rosie O’Donnell. Her club appearances range from Gotham Comedy Club in NYC the Comedy Cellar and The Improvs\, Laugh Factory\, and all in between. Poppy also is a regular on Olivia cruises and in Provincetown. She was a staff writer for Fox’s Show Me The Funny\, in Hollywood California.\nShe wrote\, starred in and produced\, her character-driven comedy pilot called News you Can’t Use\, think Tracy Ulman takes on the News. Poppy has an appearance on “All Aboard Rosie’s Family Vacation” made into an Emmy-nominated HBO documentary. She is a producer of her tour called\, The Queer Qomedy Queens\, now in its twelfth year. She travels all over the country with this tour. She performed for over 25.000 people in the closing ceremonies of the Gay Games in Chicago. She has performed for troops in both Japan and Korea. She was invited to perform in South Africa\, at The Cape Town Comedy Festival. Poppy’s observational style of humor tackles tough subjects with ease. In this comedienne’s hands\, we can laugh at life’s most formidable perils… and laughter that ravages fear is the best kind of all. Rich and full-bodied is also an appropriate descriptor for the life of comedian Julia Scotti. Since 1980\, Julia has been honing her craft in clubs and theaters throughout the United States and Canada\, performing for the first 20 years as Rick Scotti\, and now\, after a ten-year hiatus\, as Julia Scotti for the second 20. Her second act has been the very definition of Corposo. The new and improved Julia has been described by colleagues and press as\, among other things\, “a force of nature”\, and “a comedy chainsaw flying through the room”. As Julia says\, her comedy always has to be “fearless and honest”\, and America can feel both in her performances. Since coming back to comedy in 2011\, she has been named one of the Top Five Transgender Comedians in the Country by Advocate Magazine\, and has performed at LGBTQ events across the country\, and was one of the winners of the Laughlin Laugh Festival in Nevada. But she wasn’t done yet. Simon Cowell said that “you genuinely made me laugh” as she introduced herself to a national audience on Season 11 of America’s Got Talent. She was the first transgender comedian to appear on national television and was a quarter-finalist on the show. Not content to sit on her laurels\, Julia went on to record her first\, best-selling comedy CD entitled\, “Hello Boys I’m Back!” and is gearing up to record her second one. This year\, she is being featured on the Showtime Television Network Special\, “More Funny Women of a Certain Age.” Julia Scotti: Funny that Way directed by Susan Sandler premieres at Nantucket Film Festival 2020.
